Check out my second Elden Ring boss review! This one is on the Erdtree Burial Watchdog who I encountered in the Stormfoot Catacombs. This guy was the second boss I beat and my first thought seeing him was “damn, his animation is so bad…it looks like he came from Dark Souls 2!”
I enjoyed DS2 but I felt like the majority of enemies and bosses in that game felt floaty, stiff, and poorly animated. And initially I thought this guy was similar. But it quickly became clear that the Erdtree Burial Watchdog’s stiff movements were intentional and he ended up resonating with me in a way that Dark Souls 2 bosses just couldn’t.
